If the skies are clear on the morning of Thursday January 7 take a look toward the east before sunrise and you'll see a waning crescent moon just below the planets Venus and Saturn. Venus will be the brightest of the two. The planets are moving toward a conjunction on January 9th. On that day you'll be able to cover both planets with your pinky finger stretched at arm's length. Venus and Saturn haven't been that close since August 26, 2006. So, if you're up and and the skies clear, go ahead, take a gander.
