In 2007 I recorded my grandmother Cora Lolley Palmer speaking about what she remembered the day Pearl Harbor was attacked. My grandmother grew up in the country just south of Hackleburg, Ala. On December 7, 1941 she was 24 years-old and living in Hamilton, Ala. She had been married 5 years. On that day she said she and my grandfather heard the radio reports about the attack. Afterward they went over to her sister Eunia's house to say goodbye to family members who were preparing to depart that day for Frost Proof, Florida. In the production below you can hear my grandmother speak about that day and see some old family photos. My grandmother lived to be 94. Enjoy.
