In 2002 I discovered the Lady of Guadalupe and Juan Diego painted on a store window in Alberta City just east of Tuscaloosa. I was struck by the movie posters depicting guns, violence and drug gangs plastered up beside the religious iconography. In 2011 an F4 tornado passed in front of the store. Today the store is boarded up as are most of the structures here that survived the tornado.
